There are many things in my world that I look forward to. And I believe the older I get the more I see this as part of my duty in life. I have to find my light, My peace, myself. Different things may help me achieve this.
Making a meal from scratch and using every single pan and spoon and device I have in the kitchen that brings me closer to my childhood of cooking and singing and dancing with my mother and grandparents.
Learning a fun fact about a historic moment that not too many people care to speak about anymore. Seeing the significance of that historic moment and how it’s still affecting me today in this day and age.
Sitting in my car and not turning the music on. Just driving and looking at my surroundings, seeing new things in places that I’ve passed more times than I can count and being excited about a possible new favorite location, or just being happy to breathe and center myself to continue moving forward in this life.
Finding myself walking outside and realizing that its been my favorite season of the year for weeks now, but I’m finally able to feel the apricity tickle my neck and remind me that I’ll be wearing a scarf in a few more weeks.
Following these moments, I see the joy and comfort I receive because of these moments. Living and embracing this light and following it whenever I find myself close to going in the opposite direction.
If you can ask yourself the question, you can answer it as well. If I lose my sight, I can always follow the light that reminds me of who I am.
